Mission Statement

The study of dance teaches many life lessons, values, and interpersonal skills. Our dance education objective is to progress a dancer through the technical skills in all dance disciplines and prepare them for life beyond dance.  It is our belief that our students learn and exhibit grace, poise and integrity during their time at Dance Extension. Dancers graduating from our programs enter adulthood not only with the appreciation of the performing arts, but with the understanding of diligence, determination, persistence, confidence, tenacity, modesty, sound work ethics, and an ability to be quick-thinking.

Welcome to Dance Extension

On behalf of the instructors and staff at Dance Extension, we would like to welcome you to our studio. We are pleased that you have selected Dance Extension to develop your dancing and artistic talent. We have one of the most comprehensive programs in the state and have been teaching in the Dublin community for over 30 years.  Dance Extension strives to offer the most talented and dedicated instructors in the community.  Our innovative curriculum truly prepares students for success in the 21st century whether heading for collegiate dance, commercial dance, or even a non-dance career.

Our Pre-Professional Training Levels

We offer training levels, with base training in ballet, tap, and jazz.   Training level A is for our beginning dancers who begin the program by taking two classes; ballet and tap.  Training Level B offers not only ballet, tap, and jazz but an optional class in hip hop.  Levels C and D include hip hop in addition to contemporary, improvisational dance and dependent upon the student’s abilities, instruction in Pointe.

Placement for all levels is based on age, experience and skill. The instructors collaborate on each individual student’s placement in an appropriate level.  New students may require an audition for proper placement.  Recommendations for advancement and a change in level are based on technical, physical and intellectual development. As a student advances through the training levels, the time spent in class each week increases.

Expectations for the students are high, and a serious level of commitment to dance is required. We do our best to place dancers in classes that fit their age, ability and interest level to inspire an individual’s success.

Our Competition Program

We offer competition team programs based on student demand.  Our teams compete in tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary.  Placement is based on age, technical, physical and intellectual development.   Auditioning for, and committing to each dance is a serious time and financial commitment.  Competition dance requires additional instructional, registration, costume fees as well as travel expenses.  Through competition, students have more opportunities to develop their performing dance skills as well as accountability, dedication and leadership.

Studio Classes

In addition to our Pre-Professional Training Level and competition programs, Dance Extension offers classes in beginning ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, breakdancing, and contemporary for ages 2 to adult.  Our preschool program begins with Mommy, Let’s Dance! for 2-3 year olds and their mommies, daddies, babysitter or grandparent. Princess Dance & Theater Classes are a creative way to introduce beginning ballet for our 3-6 year olds while learning about different princesses.  We also offer Let’s Pretend! beginning acting classes and Acting and Creative Problem Solving classes for elementary and middle school students.  Dance Extension visits preschools and daycares within the community to promote dance, theater, creative movement, and the appreciation of the performing arts.

Workshops/Master Classes

Dance Extension offers workshops throughout the year with some of the most cutting edge teachers and choreographers in the nation. We bring them to you to brighten your view of dance, inspire and expose you to artists outside of our local area. Dance Extension strongly encourages you to participate in these workshops/master classes and to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities.

Performances

Dance Extension is constantly seeking performance opportunities for our students to demonstrate their art form. Performing builds a student’s confidence and self-esteem as well as giving them an opportunity to perform in front of an audience and showcase their talent. During the year, Dance Extension schedules performances at various community events.  Past performances include Dublin’s Spooktacular, Tree Lighting Ceremony and Columbus Children’s Festival.  We have also performed in flash mobs, commercials, and charity events.  At the end of each year, Dance Extension showcases all the students in the spring recital and expects all dancers to participate and attend dress rehearsal. If you do not wish to participate in the recital, please let us know as soon as possible.
